Yesterday we popped along to the Wedding Fair at Marbella Palacio de Congresso. It started around 12pm. We got there about 12.15ish.
At 12.30 the fashion show was to start so we took our seats and waited a few minutes. Then this guy / presenter came on and said, it will be another 15 minutes. In which time I took a wander around at all the different stalls etc. There were big hotel groups including Melia, H10, Golf Courses, Caterers, Wedding Dresses, Photographers etc. I have to say I was shocked that not one person said "hola", or asked "can I help you", "when are you getting married?" etc (obviously in Spanish) . Not one! Maybe it was a little early, many of the workers were busy doing their hair and make up or laying out chocolates and then moving them around the plate back and forth whilst chatting on the phone.
Back to the fashion show. The presenter, once again says, sorry for the delay, will be a few more minutes and then all of a sudden this music comes on and this guy breaks into song. Well that was it for me. I just couldnt control myself from laughing. He was a good singer, but it was just a bit of a shock and then how he really over played it. It was all a bit tooo....you know what I mean?
Finally after about 3 songs including his version of Angels by Robbie Williams, the fashion show started. I finally just pulled myself back together and calmed myself down when all of sudden the music starts again and these "models" start walking up the catwalk. Well, I have never seen anyone, or any model walk the way they were walking and then mixed with this weird movement / dance, it was all just too much. I cant even say the dresses were nice. One model had a real problem keeping hers above her chest. They really weren´t nice. But then thats the difference between Spanish & English Style.
The fashion show sadly came to an end and so we walked around all the stalls and once again, not one person even bothered to even get any eye contact let alone chat.
This was a fantastic opportunity to put themselves out there and they didnt.
Oh and laying half in the sea and half out on the rocks in your white wedding dress seems to be a really popular pose here in Spain. Theres and idea for any Bridezillas out there.
On a positive there was a fantastic make up and hair place which I will digg out there details and post up. And also a website called Bodaclick....ok, one lady did speak to me then.
